For Contributors

Have you contributed materials or stories? If you don’t see them on the site immediately, please understand that we are working on adding them. Check back often!

Submissions

Submissions to the Chronicle website vary by individual, and our team is ready to work with you. Start by emailing us a little information about the person to include, and the type of materials you’d like to contribute. There are many ways to share your story.

  • Photos: Contact us to help you digitize your images or to coordinate sharing files. Tell your story through family photos, event snapshots, and memorabilia like trophies and ribbons. See below for digital file specifications.
  • Oral History: If the person is living, an oral history is a great way to capture their story in their own words. The Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History at the University of Kentucky will preserve your recording for posterity. Let us guide you with the best recording techniques.
  • Written Text: Whether it’s a hand-written letter or a published autobiography, the written word can capture a person's life story. Help us understand what’s important to include in their website profile.
  • Sources: Has someone already recorded your story? Do you have primary or secondary sources to verify facts? See the Editorial Policy <link> for more information about sources.

Recognition

When you contribute your items, please also submit a photo of yourself. This is a way to build an open and recognizable community of collaborators. Each item's page includes the contributor’s name unless they chose to remain anonymous on their Item Information Form.

Institutional contributions of items also include:

  • attribution,
  • an image, and
  • a link to their collections if available to view online.

The museum or contributor must secure copyright permissions before displaying anything that is not personal property or rights owned by the contributor. See the Contributor Agreement for more information.

Authors and Contributors Definition

For the purposes of this website, authors are the individuals who write content for the website’s pages, such as person profiles and stories.

Contributors may be individuals or organizations that provide primary sources, such as photos and other items listed above as types of submissions.

Some authors may also be contributors.

Interested in researching and writing content for the website? We’d love to work with you. Email us at ChronicleInfo@ky.gov to learn more.
